Fast forward to this summer, they tied the knot along the stunning North Shore of Lake Superior at Black Beach, with their immediate family and nature’s serene backdrop.

When Erin and Colton first reached out, I could feel their connection to nature and their desire to make their wedding day an intentional celebration—just the two of them and their closest loved ones. They found the perfect secluded cabin in the woods near the Baptism River, and the scene was everything. Picture a cozy cabin with woodsy charm, sitting peacefully by the river, surrounded by towering trees, and the gentle sound of the water flowing nearby.

Their elopement day turned into an adventure full of surprises, especially when it came to the weather. From moments of brilliant sunshine to massive thick fog rolling in, and even bursts of rain, the weather was as unpredictable as it was magical. The constant changes created diverse lighting scenarios throughout the day, making each moment feel unique. At times, the fog would completely envelop us, creating an ethereal, dreamlike atmosphere. Then, the sun would break through, casting a soft, golden light that made the rain-soaked landscape sparkle. Capturing their day felt like a beautiful challenge, with nature adding its own layer of magic to each shot. It was an ever-changing, exhilarating mix that made their summer cabin Black Beach elopement even more eventful.

The day of their elopement couldn’t have been more perfect in its own unpredictable way. They exchanged vows at Black Beach, with its dramatic black sand, rocky outcrops, and the endless horizon of Lake Superior creating a dreamy, almost otherworldly atmosphere. Erin’s dress flowed in the wind, while Colton stood beside her with that ‘I’m the luckiest guy in the world’ smile on his face.

After their heartfelt ceremony, we took some time to explore the area around the beach and the cabin, capturing their playful energy and love in the wild landscape. The entire day felt like an adventure, from the ceremony itself to the moments spent wandering through the woods, skipping rocks in the river, and taking in the peaceful sounds of nature.

Their immediate family was right there with them, cheering them on, but there was also this incredible sense of privacy and calm—a feeling like it was just the two of them, completely immersed in the moment. You could see it in every glance they exchanged and in the laughter and smiles they shared throughout the day. It was pure magic.

Erin and Colton’s elopement was the perfect reminder that you don’t need anything fancy or over-the-top to have the most incredible wedding day. All you need is love, a sense of adventure, and the people who matter most. And for these two, the North Shore, with its wild beauty and secluded charm, was the perfect place to start their forever.
